Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Ojaa Meats & More (CJ Manufacturing CC) collects when you order from us, why we collect it, who else handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

It covers orders placed through our website at www.ojaameats.com, and orders placed with us directly by phone, WhatsApp or in person.

1. What we collect

When you place an order on our website, you give us:

• Your name
• Your mobile number
• Your email address — this is where your invoice is sent
• Your delivery address, if you choose delivery rather than collection
• What you ordered, the amount, and the date and time of the order

We also record whether an order has been paid and whether it has been delivered, so we can keep track of outstanding orders and meet our tax record-keeping obligations.

If you order by phone, WhatsApp or in person, we record the same order details along with the name and number you give us.

We do not ask for and do not store card or banking details. Payment is arranged with us separately and we never see your card number.

2. Why we use it

• To prepare and fulfil your order
• To generate and email your tax invoice
• To contact you about your order — availability, collection or delivery
• To keep the accounting and tax records we are required by law to keep
• To understand what we sell and how much stock to carry

We do not send marketing emails, and we do not add you to a mailing list when you order.

3. Where it is stored, and who else handles it

Running an online shop means a handful of service providers process parts of your information on our behalf. We use each one only for the purpose listed, and none of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

Provider	What it does with your information
Google	Your order, contact details and delivery address are recorded in a private Google Sheet that only we can open.
Render	Hosts the ordering service that receives your order from the website and passes it on. Your order passes through it; it is not stored there permanently.
Brevo	Sends your invoice email. It receives your name, email address and invoice.
Cloudinary	Stores the invoice PDF so it can be attached and re-sent if needed.
GitHub	Serves the website pages themselves. It does not receive your order details.
Meta (WhatsApp)	Only if you contact us on WhatsApp. WhatsApp is Meta's service and its own privacy terms apply to those messages.

Some of these providers operate servers outside South Africa. Your information may therefore be processed abroad, under the protections those providers offer.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it outside the list above only where the law requires it.

4. Cookies and site tracking

The one thing the site does store is your basket. While you are choosing items, they are kept in your own browser's local storage so your basket survives a refresh. That information stays on your device, is never sent to us until you place the order, and is cleared when you clear your browsing data.

5. How long we keep it

Order records, including your contact details and invoices, are kept for five years. We are required to retain tax records for that period under South African law.

If you ask us to delete your information, we will remove what we are not legally obliged to keep, and tell you plainly what has to stay and why.

6. Keeping it safe

Our order records are in a private Google Sheet reachable only by the people who run the business. The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and orders are sent to us over that same encrypted connection.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach occurs that puts your information at risk, we will tell you and report it to the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

7. Your rights

Under the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you may:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything that is wrong
• Ask us to delete your information, subject to the retention period above
• Object to how we are using it
• Complain to the Information Regulator if you are not satisfied with our response

8. Children

Our shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. This policy was last rewritten when we moved ordering from WhatsApp to our own website.
